A New Posting Part 1

Earth Cherokee Reservation - Sometime Prior to Current Events

After feeling not right on serving on the USS Dreadnought due to the ships massive size Andi asked and was granted reassignment, it took her by surprise that it was so quickly granted, but no matter she had said her farewells to the XO of the ship and with her stuff packed headed out on the next transport. That was six weeks ago during her downtime she had not been idle as she had been shadowing a Professor at the Academy to see how she would take to teach other students. Currently, she was on day's off so she spent some time on the reservation of her tribe, initially, the Chief's daughter joining the paleface Starfleet organisation had not sat well with him, but he had since come around and now both were close again.

It had been two weeks since she had returned to duty and now she was tending to her tribal duties when a Starfleet Captain requested an audience, MOther and Daughter shared a concerned look, for a Starfleet Captain to request and audience meant it was serious, usually when they wanted to recall Andi they called directly, but here was a Senior Officer requesting an audience with her Father and by way her.

In the Chief's Hut, her Father sat down with the Captain and in perfect English "So Captain what do I owe this honour, Starfleet never requests an audience with me to ask my daughter to return, what is so important that Starfleet is being so formal?" James Lightfeather asked.

"Chief Lightfeather, first off I am honoured you would grant me an audience, yes it is true we usually send a communication when we recall your daughter to duty, but this time is different," the Starfleet Captain said.

"Do you know my daughter will not talk of her time on the Dreadnought all she will say is, her leaving had nothing to do with the Commanding Officer or First Officer, beyond that she speaks not of her last posting, so do you know why she is silent?" James Lightfeather asked.

"Sadly we do not, nor do I Chief when she was debriefed she did not say anything beyond what you know, but our Counsellors guessed that she has some personal embarrassment one what happened on the ship and she is too embarrassed to speak of it. I am sure she will speak of things when she has reconciled what went on out there when she is ready, but I am here, because she is needed urgently a slot has opened up for a First Officer on a ship currently docked at Starbase 48, the Commanding Officer is new and needs a First Officer with experience" the Captain said.

"My daughter is not that experienced Starfleet, her last two ships she was First Officer on the commanding officers resigned from their positions and that is why she changed to Operations, now you want her to return to Command Division and be the First Officer on another new ship, I cannot allow it!" Chief LIghtfeather said.

From the back of the room, Andi and her mother were listening intently until the words "I cannot allow it" was said, then steeling herself Andi stepped out from the back room. "It is okay Papi I will speak for myself," she said noticing her father jump a little, while the Captain was startled and showed it.

James looked back at her "Daughter, I do not like how it feels this time around, and I am your father you will listen to me" he said trying to be firm, but suddenly his daughter got that look in her eyes, it is the same look her Mother who had just joined them had.

"Papi, I am forty-two I love you but you cannot speak for me, so I will speak for myself," she said and looked at the Starfleet officer as she sat beside her father.

"So Captain, what ship, where and when?" Andi asked although she had a good idea as she had been listening for some time. She felt a little nervous at going back out onto the frontlines, but she was a Starfleet Officer and as such, she had a duty.

The Captain looked at her "it is a Nebula class under Commander Temperance Harding, she is new to the centre seat, as for where the ship is currently at Starbase 48 and as for when, as soon as possible" he answered.

"I can get my stuff ready and go 0600 hours tomorrow morning, but if you want me to get there quickly I will need very fast transportation if I am to stay within your timeframe Captain," Andi said and a surprised Starfleet Captain looked at her.

"I think that can be arranged," he said with a smile and stood up.

"Until tomorrow Captain," Andi said with a smile and the Captain returned it and was escorted out of the building, her father gave her a look, she looked at him "don't start Papi, don't you even think of it"!" she said mock seriously, despite all things she was still able to wrap her father around her finger, with a smile she planted a kiss on his forehead and left to pack.

Her mother stepped forward "I see our daughter still has power over you, oh! if only the rest of the drive saw what I just saw" she said with a mischievous smile.
