[Observation Lounge- USS Endurance]

Finally, the USS Endurance had docked and Christine found herself in the small Lounge area of the Nebula Class Starship after spending some time getting to know the layout of the ship and where her office was stationed, Now here she was reporting to the Ships Executive Officer one Lieutenant Commander Lightfeather. Whilst she had been waiting for the ship to arrive she had done her research on the crew of the ship.

Whilst she waited for the XO to arrive, Christine reflected on her sudden rise to Full Lieutenant and how quickly that it had come about, as she looked out the port window at the sight of other starships sitting in their births, she knew that she was being watched carefully by command, she thought to herself oO I better not screw this up Oo as she yet had to call home and tell them the news.

[First Officers Office/quarters]

After sorting out some paperwork Andi got an alert that a new Security Chief was waiting in the ship's lounge, she checked the file and was impressed the new Security Chief skipped two ranks, she must be good at something to be so young and yet be a full Lieutenant. She sighed heavily and as her Office also doubled as her quarters, she moved all her personal items into the rear part of the room and closed the sliding door and checked around what also passed for her office and tapped her Commbadge.

=/\= On my way ma'am,=/\= replied Christine as she placed the mug back upon the shelf of the replication unit and exited the lounge, she asked "Computer, show me the way to the first officer's Office," as the lights upon the wall started to point her in the direction to go, Christine knew that it was better to learn this way as it would help her in the long run. as she continued to follow the signs, she knew that this being her only second assignment but to become a department head was like wow. As she came to the door, Christine pressed the door chime and waited to be allowed to enter.

Hearing the door chime "Enter!" Lightfeather said and looked up as a very young Lieutenant entered the room oO by the ancestors are the junior officers getting younger or am I getting older or is it both? Oo She asked herself and looked at the young woman.

"Welcome to the Endurance Lieutenant Childers, please have a seat," Andi said indicating the chair in front of her desk.

"Thank you, Ma'am," replied Taking the seat looking at the Endurance's Executive officer, she asked," Ma'am, I know I got assigned here and with my rank, But I don't know what my perch is going to be?" as her orders did not contain it apart from her new rank and assignment as she handed the PADD over.

Taking the offered Padd and looking it over "Deck Three is where your quarters are located, I will give you a pass card to register the room for you. I am Lieutenant Commander Andromeda Lightfeather the ships First Officer, congratulations on the rapid promotion, you are but the second one to get such a quick promotion" Andi said as she transferred the Padd data to her computer and handed the Padd back as she pulled out a one-use card and held it out to Childers.

"This will show you where on deck three your quarters are and when you get there to place the card to the sensor panel, that is a one-time use card and it will allocate the quarters to you for the computer when that is done it can be safely disposed of," she said and waited for Childers to take the card.

As Christine took the card, she asked, "So where is my office ma'am? and what are the shift rota here?" as she posed the two questions to the Endurance Executive officer.

Giving the question a thought "your Office is on Deck Eleven along with all other security facilities, as for the shift rota, you will be on the Alpha shift until told otherwise, any other questions?" Lightfeather asked.

"Who is the Assistant Chief or do I need to appoint one?" asked Christine as she needed to get all the details before heading down to her new office, but her first port of call was the quartermaster to get her room on deck 2, as she now was relishing the opportunity that she found herself with.

"Currently we do not have one, so anyone you appoint to DCoS will be temporary as at some point we are hoping to fill that slot, otherwise your job is mainly below decks especially now we are docked and taking on crew, you have a chance to do a stocktake of hand weapons and the like, and to do a security walkabout to get to know the ship better, any other questions Lieutenant?" Lightfeather asked.

"Aye Ma'am," responded Christine as she had to go through her department and appoint a temporary assistant chief, she continued "I will start straight away Ma'am once I have settled into my quarters and have had my physical," as she knew now that she had a lot of work ahead of her as this was her first chance at a leadership role and she wanted to keep the oath she had made to Colonel Somers.

Studying the young officer "you seem really eager and a little young to be a full Lieutenant, but eagerness is good, as, for the youth, you are not the first one to arrive on the Endurance with. So what were your exact duties on your last posting Lieutenant, it says Security Officer on the Tomcat, but nothing more in your file?" Lightfeather asked.

" I was just a lowly security officer and was selected for an away Mission, but I can not tell you anything as it is Classified," replied Christine looking back at the Endurance's Executive officer, as she knew that the mission from hell was bad and was under orders not to say anything about it.

Pulling up the mission files "actually they are not classified, I can imagine how much of a nightmare it was for most of the crew o have a hand in a BDZ order, the current mission they are on is standard but somewhat sensitive due to the Prime Directive theme, still do you think you could run a department, Lieutenant Childers? Lightfeather asked.

"Yes Ma'am I do, I had a good teacher in how to run a department, Lieutenant Jg Paul Winchester," replied Christine Looking back at the Endurance Executive officer.

Andi looked at the young woman, she did not know of this Lieutenant Winchester so she could not judge him "That is good news, you will have your work cut out as you organise your department into an effective force to defend the ship if needed" Lightfeather responded.

"I will Ma'am, I will not tolerate slackers in my department," replied Christine as she knew that the department had to be the best there is in the fleet and had been drummed into her by Lieutenant Winchester, as now she had the task of doing that here. she finished "I will start first thing in the Morning Ma'am as I have had a Long Journey here and need some sleep,"

Andi nodded "all-new crew to the ship have to report to Medical for a checkup as our CMO has the latest updates on your Medical history, get that done before you rest Lieutenant if you have any emotional problems then speak to our COunsellor Lieutenant Rose Kersey, that is what she is here for, understood?" Lightfeather asked, "you are young for a full Lieutenant, so you will have a lot to prove to people as some will not likely see your rank only your age, but be firm, but fair and do not take any crap your subordinates throw at you if they think your youth is a hindrance to the department, you will need to show them who is boss, you understand?" Lightfeather added

" I understand Ma'am," replied Christine as she knew that being fast-tracked as she had been might put those who have worked up the ranks as having slept with a CO, but she hadn't, she had earned this the hard way, she continued " and I won't let them get away with anything,"


Nodding "very good Lieutenant Childers, if there is nothing further, you may go and see the CMO or duty MO then retire to your quarters and report on time for duty in the morning, understood?" Lightfeather asked.

"Understood Ma'am" replied Christine as she knew that her next stop was medical and get that sorted then she could sleep and get refreshed ready for the morning.

Smiling "good, now off with you Lieutenant," she said and watched the young Lieutenant leave oO damn they are getting younger all the time! Oo she thought to herself with a rueful smile as the doors closed behind Childers.
