Location: Starbase

Having yet to meet her new Command team Rose decided to arrange a meeting with her new XO. Tapping her comm badge she hoped Commander Lightfeather wouldn’t mind meeting on the station. =/\= Lieutenant Kersey to Commander Lightfeather, are you available to meet with me on the Starbase? =/\=

- Lightfeathers Starbase Quarters -

It was the morning after her night out, the drink was definitely real, she remembered the first two-quarters of the night, then things got blurry she barely remembered stumbling back on sore feet, last night she sore that she would never wear such shoes again. Now she was in a deep sleep recalling some mysterious guy that she danced with, he was speaking in chirps, the type of chirp that cam with a Commbadge.

With this happening Andi's rational and very groggy mind started putting the pieces together and grumbling she opened blurry eyes "aww geeze... OW" she said as she was hit with a major hangover as she held her head with one hand and groped for her commbadge with the other and after two tries she managed to make a two-way connection as she heard this Kersey speaking swallowing and moistening her lips =/\= Do we know each other Lieutenant? =/\= Andi asked rubbing her eyes as she sat up.

=/\= Apologies Commander, I’m the new Chief Counsellor for the USS Endurance. =/\= Rose paused. =/\= I can call another time If I’m catching you at a bad time? =/\=

Yawning =/\= No it is okay Lieutenant, meet me at Cafe 69 in an hour, Lightfeather out =/\= Andi said and signed off and put her Commbadge down as she stood up and walked over to the replicator "One mug of coffee, strong and black" she said and a moment later a mug of coffee appeared, she picked it up and took a sip feeling the hot liquid slide down her throat, it felt nice, she took a larger sip before placing the mug down and went to find some clean underwear and civilian attire.

After getting dressed in some comfy slacks, a baggy T-shirt and some sandals, who gave them to her she could not remember, but she knew they were vintage, she returned to her coffee and downed the rest before returning the empty mug to the reclimator. Not wanting coffee breath she entered the refresher station and cleaned her teeth, she did not bother with any other beauty products. As she exited her quarters she squinted her eyes, under normal circumstances the starbase lighting was not that bright, but she had a hangover so putting on some dark vintage sunglasses she headed out placing the Commbadge above her left breast.

- Promenade - Cafe 69 -

She had made good time and surprising herself slightly ahead of time she approached the cafe and found an empty seat and almost flopped into her seat, she placed her arms on the table and still with glasses on rested her head on her arms. She was alerted that someone was there by them clearing their throat, she looked up squinting behind her glasses at the waiter, then over to the shadow to her right "You must be Lieutenant Kersey, please have a seat, what beverage would you like?" Andi asked sitting up.

Rose couldn’t help but notice the telltale signs of a hangover. “Just chilled water will be wonderful thank you.” She moved around to a seat, sitting down and resting her aching back. “You look about how I feel.” She grinned.

Andi nodded and looked up at the Waiter "I will have a strong black coffee and as the lady said please" she said with a smile the Waiter nodded and left with their order, she looked back at the Lieutenant, please join me Lieutenant, apologies for my state went to a Yuletide party last night drank too much. Alcohol is evil!" she said and moved her shades to the top of her head, it was like a headband effect, she squinted her eyes until they adjusted to the brightness, when they did she took a good look at the Lieutenant.

She was petite, blonde and Andi could not make out if she had brown or blue eyes, but she had a nice smile, which meant that she was good at her job a Counsellor needed a good smile, well Andi thought so, she was about to say something when the waiter returned with their drinks, he placed their respected beverages in front of them, Andi gave him two strips of latinum and looked at the Lieutenant "drink is on me" she said and took a swig of her coffee, she let the hot beverage flow down her throat and the aroma of the coffee go through her nose before looking at the Lieutenant "so Lieutenant, what is your name and to what do I owe this honour?" She asked.

Rose smiled. “Thank you for the drink, my name is Rose Kersey. I’ve just been assigned as Chief Counsellor of the Endurance, so I thought I’d introduce myself. I’m sorry if I caught you when you could have used a rest.” She paused to sip her drink. “We could have met another time.”

Rubbing her temples "nothing like the present, please excuse my state was partying last night but will not be doing such a thing again in a hurry" she added as she stopped rubbing her temples and took a swig of her black coffee "I suppose we should get on with it. "As you know I am Lieutenant Commander Andromeda Lightfeather the First Officer on the Endurance, and no doubt you have already met the Captain, so what were your previous postings?" Andi asked.

Rose offered an understanding smile. “Well prior to being assigned here I spent two years aboard a Drax science ship, my father being the Captain. Prior to that, when I graduated from the Academy I spent a year at Starfleet Medical, two years aboard the USS Wildcat, and three years aboard the USS Kirk.”

Looking as impressed as a hangover allowed "a Drax vessel, impressive, still, you have some experience, this is good as you have the responsibility for the entire crew's mental health on your back" Andi said "off duty feel free to call me Andi" Lightfeather added.

Rose nodded. “Thank you, Andi, likewise for me it’s Rose, hey you! Or anything else you might think of!” Rose grinned. “As for the crew, they’ll be in good hands don’t worry. I already have plans in motion for Starfleet to supply us with more counselling staff, especially for when I’m on maternity leave. I will be aboard the ship during my leave prior to the baby’s birth I’ll be working shortened hours for those in urgent need.”

Looking closer "That is good to know, you do know the missions will not always be easy and at some point some crew will come to you, speaking of you will need to report for a medical checkup with the ship CMO," Andi said.

“I already have plans for that” Rose smiled warmly. “It’s a regular occurrence at the moment in my condition.”

Through her morning after the night before fogged and sluggish brain everything Rose said finally penetrated her mind, her eye's opened wide "Wait a minute! Did you just say you were with child?" Andi asked clearly surprised.

Rose grinned. “A whole six months, I thought the big bump would have given that fact away.”

*rubs her temples as she looks* "So you are, hell if you put my parents in front of me or if they were standing next to this table I would not immediately notice them, my advice stay away from getting extremely drunk" Andi said taking another sip of her black coffee.

Rose laughed. “I very rarely get drunk, it’s not conducive to keeping my abilities under control. Maybe I should let you go and put your feet up for a while, and I’ll go explore the ship.”

"It is okay, this interaction is letting my synapses fire at the correct speed, but have you any further questions to ask before I let you go?" and asked.

“Actually I guess the main one I have is whether there are any concerns about having children on board ship?” Rose looked at Lightfeather curiously. “I know some ships are unsuitable for families, others simply don’t allow families. Though I doubt Starfleet would have assigned me here if it was a problem.”

"I know the Captain has no issues with such things, and neither do I, the ship is a Nebula Class so it is able to accommodate some family units, but are you aware of all the possible dangers we will be facing out there to your child when he or she is born?" Lightfeather asked. "I simply want to make sure you know what you are letting yourself in for, saying that there are already a few families on the Endurance, but just for my peace of mind nothing more" Andi added finishing her coffee.

Rose nodded. “I understand Commander. It’s just...I don’t have anywhere else for my baby to go that won’t be miles away from me. That’s not something that I can bear to think about.” She paused. “I’m willing to take those risks.”

"That is all I need to hear Rose, I am happy with what you just said and I have seen the effects on the children with single parents who had to work on a ship or Starbase, it was not nice to see the sorrows on their little faces when bad news came in, but it was great to see their little faces lit with joy when their parent came home or there was some good news. The images I saw at the end of the Dominion War were heartbreaking" Andi paused and rotated her shoulders.

"Still I think we have a Creche on the ship, not been with it long so not really up to date with all the ships facilities, if we do not have one, send me a request for one and I will take it to the Captain for her to decide," Andi said.

Rose nodded. “Thank you that would be much appreciated. I understand your concerns, there are going to be dangers out there that we’ll have to face. I don’t plan on being the weak link in a strong chain, I will do my duty.”

"Good to hear Rose, okay I think this meeting is complete, next time we meet I should be in better shape," Andi said with a wan smile as she looked at Rose.

“Wonderful” Rose smiled warmly. “It’s been a pleasure meeting you Commander. I look forward to being a part of the Endurance crew.

Andi looked up as Rose stood, now she saw the bump oO why did I not see that before Oo she thought to herself and watched the Counsellor walk off, when she had gone she put her glasses on the table and laid her head on her arms and groaned, she was regretting last night.
