Mission: Mission 0: Have Wings, Will Fly
Location: Sickbay, USS Endurance

Emony understood why she was summoned, it was part of the process with a new crew under a new CO. But she was still annoyed because this meant she was going to miss an Intelligence briefing and have to get the recorded version. Which meant she couldn't get immediate responses from her superiors.

She entered Sickbay, and started poking around to find the Chief Medical Officer. Office, main sickbay, labs, she was approaching this as methodically as normal until she found who she was looking for.

Hope was just leaving her office to complete the physicals she had scheduled, the medical teams were making great progress on getting everyone in and taken care of. Making her way out of the office she saw a Lieutenant, "how may I help you?" the Chief Medical Officer asked politely. Hope had an idea that this person was Lieutenant Kerev, but she didn't like to assume and embarrass herself.

The Intelligence officer looked over at the other woman and arched an eyebrow, keeping her hands behind her back for the moment.

"Well, I'm hoping so. It would seem that there's a scheduling conflict and mandatory physicals override recorded Intelligence briefings." Emony said, "Lieutenant Emony Kerev, reporting for appointment as ordered. Doctor."

There was amusement in her tone, a little wit and humor mixed with sarcasm, but she did have a polite smile. This created both a clash and appropriate blend at the same time, fitting for someone in Intelligence grey.

"Well" Hope blinked a few times "if you would have let me know, we could have rescheduled your physical" she said with a hint of her southern charm showing.

"There wasn't much for rescheduling. And my Sector Chief is an old hand at this, told me I'll get a recording later." Emony replied with a shrug, "Besides, it's more my own state of restlessness, I'll get over it."

"So, Doctor, what's on the agenda for this time?" Emony asked.

"Just a general physical" Hope gestured toward the bio beds in the main part of sickbay. "Shouldn't take to long" she tried to offer a soft smile.

Emony nodded and headed over to one of the bio beds, hopping up, "Shouldn't find anything out of the ordinary. No symbiote, no prosthetic limbs, no fake molars with a poison capsule." Emony cracked a grin finally.

"Well that's good to know" Doctor Ross said with a giggle in her voice. Hope retrieved a tricorder from a supply cabinet at the head of the bio bed and took out the scanning device. "This should be painless" she tried to joke making a funny face, keeping with Emony's humor.

"At least so long as you didn't end up with my fake tricorder that...emits...oh I don't know...poison gas? Neurotoxin? Super deadly radiation? Any of that sound believable?" Emony asked. "Or was it the hypo that unfolds into a bat'leth...."

"You'd be surprised what I've heard people claim about Intelligence over the years. And that's before the Section 31 conspiracy theories..." Emony commented with a laugh, "So, what about you, Doc? Heard any good conspiracy theories lately?"

As Doctor Ross took her readings she looked up from the tricorder "Can't say that I have." Hope glanced down at her tricorder and then back up at Emomy "Of course I haven't really had time to make any friends, so who knows" she smiled and shrugged.

"You don't need to have made friends to have some conspiracy theories, Doctor." Emony replied, "And are we dodging the question or indirectly asking if we could be friends?" Emony tilted her head to one side.

"Friends are always good to have" Hope smiled and closed the tricorder as she had finished her scans.

"To be perfectly honest here, Doctor, are you just humoring me long enough to get me out of here?" Emony asked, "Because that is, in the interests of honesty, what I'm starting to get the feeling of here."

"Absolutely not" Hope said slightly offended. In all her years in practice she had always had pride in her bed side manor. She was simply too 'southern' to not be polite and she had to watch her scans while they were being taken. "I" Hope paused sitting the tricorder down and then making eye contact with Emony once more "I want to apologize if I've offended you."

"Not at all," Emony shook her head, "I seem to have slightly misread the situation. So I think it's supposed to be me saying that. I wasn't attempting to offend, I just felt that you were avoiding my questions like that because...well, people get uncomfortable just seeing Intel grey."

"I have no problem with any of my ship mates, no matter the color on their collar" Hope gave a slight nod and a smile. What she was going to say next would more then likely come as a big shock to the Lieutenant "in fact both my mother and father serve within Starfleet Intelligence."

Emony nodded instead, "Starfleet brat, eh? Don't worry, so am I. Dad retired a while ago, he's a xenobiologist. Mom technically retired but not, heading up projects at the Starfleet yards at Trill. She used to work at Utopia Planitia, but obviously that's not possible anymore. Luckily they were on Trill for First Contact Day."

"I suppose we both rebelled against our upbringings in our own ways. Imagine that." Emony concluded.

Emony was right "very lucky" she said just thinking how scary it is that her parents are both who knows where. "My parents are both part of intel so" she kind of shrugged.

"Yeah, I seem to recall you mentioning that." Emony said with a lighthearted laugh, shaking her head. "Well, the majority of the work is just trying to make predictions from data behind a desk. There is some field ops stuff, but nothing like fiction."

"But if fiction were like the real thing, it would be awfully dry and quite boring. Much I'm sure like hospital drama holo novels show a more drama filled version of what your day to day actually is." Emony said.

"Oh absolutely" Hope smiled when she actually thought about it.

Emony hopped off the biobed, "Well, I'm sure we both have things to get back to, Doctor, but you know where to find me if you're looking to kill some off duty time with someone. I wouldn't object to the company, seems we might have a bit to talk about."
